Bangpra International Golf Club is one of the oldest golf courses in the Pattaya area, originally built in 1958 and modernized in the late 80's, it is still able to compete with some newer courses due to its long-lived mature trees Competition of course.
The course is known for its long par threes - all of which are over 180 yards from the blue tees, and the 17th hole is particularly daunting as it has over 200 yards on most of the way to the greens yards of water. The par 5 is also quite long, and on the front 9, the par 5.5 green is partially protected by a water hazard, so you need to be in the right position to approach the green. Holes 5 and 7 are the longest holes on the course at 623 from the back tee but luckily are mostly downhill so generally within reach of most of us.
The back nine is a bit of a disappointment after the front nine, with much wider fairways and only slight rough around the edges. However, that doesn't mean you'll get a good score as there are some difficult holes. These include two par 3 holes, the 12th and 17th, which require long drives over the water. The stretch of holes from No. 12 also includes water hammer to the often elevated greens, which, due to their shape, tend to throw the ball into the surrounding hollows. Nice and easy finishing hole with open fairways to keep your spirits up at the end of the round.
Unusually, excellent clubs offer Japanese baths and Japanese cuisine in restaurants. So if your round doesn't go to plan, you can relax and enjoy a good meal.
We recommend this course, despite its age it compares well to some of the newer layouts and remains a favorite with golfers in Pattaya.
