Hua Hin golf courses

Banyan Golf Club Hua

Hua Hin Banyan Golf Club is an outstanding golf course that we have included in our list of the best golf courses in Thailand. The course was designed by a local architect who took advantage of the natural setting and the pineapple plantations surrounding the course often play a role.

There are six tees to suit all handicaps and, as you'd expect, the course is dotted with some pretty impressive and well placed water hazards and bunkers. Play well and you can usually reach fast and true greens easily.

Great tee hole at Banyan Tree Hua Hin, great views across the course from the elevated tees - you'll need to pick the right clubs, and if you find the fairway, it's only about 150 yards from the pin. Hole 2 is the first of a par 3, the green looks small from the landing area and you should try to stay under the pin. It's downhill from the 3rd tee and really tempts you to grab the driver and spread your shoulders. The 4th hole is a formidable par 3 with a long stretch of water leading up to the elevated green where you'll be more than happy to find some big putting surfaces. 4th, 5th the biggest challenge is hitting the water from a rough lie, while on 6th, another par 4, you might have to flirt with the pond on the tee and then uphill to the green , but remember to take an extra club. Even if it doesn't look like it from a T-shirt, Hole 7 is considered the hardest but not too bad if you get the right spot on the fairway. Take in the view on the last hole of the front nine at Banyan Tree Hua Hin Golf Club as you head back to the clubhouse.

Tough start to the back nine, you need to be careful off the tee as there are hazards on both sides of the fairway and then uphill to the green you need at least one extra club. The chances of hitting a two-shot on the par 5 and 11th are very slim and this approach is particularly challenging because the green is surrounded by bunkers. The consecutive par 5s and 12th hole are the longest on the course, but if the wind is right, you can lead by two - steep fairways add to the challenge. The 14th hole is a very nice hole with a creek running in front of the green and then on to the signature hole - the par 3, which has a stunning ocean view from the tee as you look down the narrow green. The 17th is another great gently sloped par 3 with a huge green that offers a good scoring opportunity if you can control the putting surface. Wonderful finishing hole as you line up the clubhouse.

The optional stroller has built-in GPS to take the guesswork out of choosing a club.

Excellent practice facilities with a driving range as well as putting and chipping greens. The clubhouse, pro-shop and changing rooms are all first class and the restaurants offer the usual choice of Western and Thai dishes and the Mulligans Pub is an ideal spot to watch the sun go down as you discuss your round.  If you would like to stay overnight here then you can find more information here.
