Blue Canyon Country Lakes Course

Not as well known as its sister course but just as exciting - a very satisfying experience
The younger brother of the more famous Canyons Course, Blue Canyon Country Club's Lakes Course has stepped out of its big brother's shadow to become an excellent course with revamped TifEagle greens and additional bunkers. It's a challenging course that winds through dramatic landscapes dotted with lakes and canyons, with plenty of headroom, and if you can avoid the streams and bunkers that encroach on many of the fairways, you won't be too hurt if you don't play a day. severe punishment.

Immediately after a fairly easy start, things got tougher with an unpredictable approach to the green on the water, carrying more water on the second par-3 and needing to avoid it on the third tee It leads to a huge canyon doing a dogleg. It's a great introduction to a course where the challenge keeps coming at you, and the buggy shot creates some homework for those willing to hunt endless balls in search of water.

Hole 4 is a challenging dogleg hole with trees advancing on the right, requiring a long approach over the canyon if you want to make two par putts. Another canyon awaits you to the left of the 5th fairway, the 6th is a short downhill par 4 with a very narrow landing between two water hazards and the 7th is a sharp The dogleg hole has a water hazard to the left and a tree to the left that sometimes prevents you from accessing the heavily guarded green.

After a fairly steep par 3 (tee shot over water) and a long par 5 (tee shot out onto a wide fairway but difficult to avoid strategically placed trees), it was time to sell the golf course. The kiosk settled for a drink and tackled a tough back nine.

The 10th hole is a par 5 with a tricky tee shot over the water to a narrow landing, then a relatively easy second hole that lands just in front of the ditch. The road leads to an uphill green that slopes steeply down from back to front. So unless you want to risk your putt landing in front of a lightning fast green, try to land just below the hole. The 11th hole is a short downhill par 4 and the green is within reach of big hitters at the same time - although if you miss your mark you'll find yourself with trees blocking your access to the green the way.

After the water tee shot reaches the green of the par 3 12th hole, a straight shot at the 13th hole 5 offers a birdie opportunity. If you can hit the ball here, you'll have to work hard to avoid hitting it straight on the long par 13 4, where treacherous three-tiered greens make two-putts a real achievement.

The 15th is another easy par 5, but high handicappers may find the waterway close to the green a bit daunting. The 16th is an uphill dogleg hole to the left, with bunkers protecting the tiger line, but if you can hit the fairway, you should be able to run par. The par 3 17th is rated as the easiest hole on the course to play, but it's also easy to get caught, especially when the pin is behind a bunker to the left of the protected green.

The outstanding hole is probably the last one, on par with the best in Thailand. From the tee, a large tree sits in the center of your view, about 180 yards away, marking the start of a huge canyon that bisects the fairway. The traditional route goes to the right, leaving a long distance to the raised green that has to go through the canyon, but you can take the narrower, more direct route to the left, where the perfect tee puts you on the raised green From the start, your second shot is no less difficult than the fairway, but hopefully shorter. No matter what you choose, if you can hit the green in one or two, you'll be awarded some kind of medal.

The clubhouse has a restaurant with a patio overlooking the Canyons course, a well-stocked pro shop with racket and shoe rentals, and even on-site accommodations with an attached spa (but we don't recommend staying there as there's not much to see play) do). in the area after dark). While the locker room may have seen better days, there's no reason not to skip a round of the Blue Canyon Country Club's Lakes Course on a golf vacation to Thailand.
