One of the few Robert Trent Jones Jr.-designed golf courses in Thailand, Pattaya's Orient Star Golf Club is located on the site of a former coconut plantation. A fairly forgiving links style course, generally in good condition, suitable for most standard golfers.



As you might expect, there are plenty of coconut palms to look at, but the relatively wide fairways mean they won't get in your way too much, as long as you also avoid the numerous bunkers and 11 lakes!

The Eastern Star offers golfers a reasonable but challenging layout. Playing golf in Pattaya in summer can be hot, but due to its proximity to the Gulf of Thailand, the course usually has cool prevailing winds at this time of year. The course is beautifully landscaped and surrounded by nearby mountains, making it the ideal place for a leisurely round of golf on a golf holiday in Pattaya.



You need to play smart golf to do well as there are many dogleg holes, positioning is key and you also need to make sure you don't get in the way of tall trees. It can add another dimension when the cool sea breeze blows by.

Water hazards usually line the side of the fairway and are often a factor as you approach the green. So if a hook or slice sneaks into your game, you've got your hands wet.

The signature hole is an attractive par 3 13th which requires a tee shot over a water hazard to the green, another water hazard on one side, a very deep bunker on the other, and rough Grass. The par 5 4th is another notable hole with a narrow landing area and water to the left.

Pattaya golfers will be amused by some of the very unusual and imaginative topiary including a hedge right in the middle of the fairway sculpted in the shape of the FA Cup on the second hole, right in the middle of the fairway.

Disappointing changing rooms and very average restaurant but this course offers excellent value for money in pleasant surroundings.

There is a hotel beside the golf course offering a range of 2/3 and 4 bed apartments.  Other facilities include a driving range and swimming pool.
