Chiang Mai golf courses

Happy City Golf Resort

Happy City Golf Resort Chiang Rai is the newest and somewhat unusual addition to the local golf course, offering 29 holes. This unusual golf course features Korean-shaped greens, Thai-shaped holes and a windmill-shaped drink kiosk

The locally designed Joy City Golf Resort has three nines (Mountain Breeze, Lakeside and River) plus two spare holes that can be used when other holes are closed for maintenance.

The views of the surrounding mountains as you round the paspalum fairways and Bermuda greens ensure your putts are straight and true. The raised tees give you a clear view of the hazards on the winding fairway, although you might encounter some unwelcome surprises on the top of the hill or on the other side of the dogleg hole. So feel free to reach out to your caddy.

A few hard shots over the water were a real test of the nerves and the greens ripened quickly, fast but true.

There are some unusual par-3s - the 7th green is shaped like the Korean peninsula and the 16th green is shaped like a map of Thailand. When you stop for a drink, you'll find even more unusual things - one of the kiosks looks straight out of The Flintstones, another is a windmill.

The clubhouse overlooks the 1st and 11th tees where you can relax with a cold drink. Other facilities include a spa and sauna, driving range, golf academy and putting green.
