Bangkok golf courses

Lakewood Country Club

Lakewood Country Club Bangkok is one of the closest golf courses to downtown Bangkok. The club is built on a large open piece of land and although the area is pretty flat, the designers managed to keep things interesting with extensive landscaping and earthworks, and the result is very attractive. It's a 27-hole layout, each of the 9 holes has its own character, and it's a very different experience depending on the combinations you play.

Lake Nine at Lakewood Country Club has many interesting holes. The second is a short par 4, and longer distance drivers can try the green, but there is a very large bunker in front of the green. For the average person, avoid the 3 fairway bunkers that guard the right side of the fairway. The third is a very long par 3 hole, over 200 yards from the blue tee with water to the waterside green on one side and a large bunker on the other. Hole 4 is another fairly short par 4, within reach, but anything easy to pull will end up in the water, stretching from the tee to the green - there is also a huge bunker. The 5th hole is a twisty par 5 with bunker protection leading straight to the accessible fairway. A dangerous second followed, with five bunkers flanking the fairway and two more to the right of the green. The 9th hole is a very difficult par 4 with seven bunkers off the tee and a larger water hazard to the left. A well-placed pot bunker awaits a second miss, and 3 bunkers guard the green.

After an easy start, the wood course narrows to a par 5 with a second course featuring a narrow landing protected by two bunkers on either side of the fairway and an easily accessible water hazard on the left. On your second shot, you must stay on the fairway as the green is protected by bunkers on both sides. The 4th hole is a scenic par 3 with water on the right, two large bunkers on the left and another guarding the route to the pin. Hole 5 is not bad if you can avoid the three large fairway bunkers and stay away from the lake to the left. The tee shot on hole 6 is intimidating as you drive across the lake and a large sandy bunker to the narrow fairway - another pond to the left will be the playing field for the big hitters. Four bunkers flanking the fairway and the runway close to the green make scoring difficult, while the current behind the green makes proper club selection critical. Hole 7 is a classic risk and reward hole with a big stream running through the fairway - you have to take on this hazard and try to avoid the fairway bunkers for an easy approach, or go off the left side of the hazard and look at the long iron on the green . Very tough 9th hole with water on the left and a narrow fairway protected by several bunkers.

Lakewood Country Club's Rock Course features water features on every hole. Hole 2 is a great par 5 with a narrow fairway and five bunkers around the green. The third is a wonderful par 4 with water running off the left and cutting into the fairway just in front of the green. Hole 5 is a long par 3 with water to the right and a large bunker to the right of the narrow green, but a wide runway area to the left of the green. The seventh hole is a right dogleg hole with a creek running through the fairway about 150 yards from the green and three bunkers around the putting face. It's a nice finishing hole as you drive to a very narrow landing with a large fairway bunker to the left and water to the right, approaching the green almost surrounded by water in a scary way.
