Mission Hills Golf Club is located in the Kanchanaburi region, just over 100 kilometers from the Thai capital. This is one of three Jack Nicklaus-designed Mission Hills golf courses in Thailand, the other two in Phuket and Khao Yai. The golf club has good road links and is very easy to reach, either from Kanchanaburi city or Bangkok, and is well worth a visit. First opened in 1991, Mission Hills offers a great challenge even for players in the best shape.

The course itself sits on a gentle slope, close to the River Kwai, and has what many Jack Nicklaus signature courses have in common, namely the large bunkers. The fairways are lined with large palm trees, many of which have water hazards.



Mission Hills, Kanchanaburi is not a golf course to mess with and only good golfers will find themselves with a handicap. However, the course offers five sets of tees on each hole, so this is certainly not a course for advanced golfers only. Five of the holes have split fairways, offering two ways to reach the greens. However, shots close to the greens must be precise as they have good bunkers and it is difficult to cleanly avoid the surrounding rough.

The par 5 holes are often considered the best, especially as they are surrounded by water and the hills beyond are full of scenery and jungle. Yes, Mission Hills forces golfers to really focus on their game, but there is still time to step back and enjoy the course's majestic vistas and what it has to offer. Hole choices had to be the long 12th and the par 4 17th with its island green.




While there's a lot to like about Mission Hills Golf Course, the accommodations here are a little lacking in comparison. Wooden clubhouses are certainly worth the time after a round of golf, but lodging closer to the golf course is better.

Mission Hills Golf Club offers one of the most challenging courses in Kanchanaburi. The environment is great, but the lessons can be difficult if you get stuck in them. However, with great design and idyllic views, Mission Hills Golf Club is becoming a must-visit for anyone in the Kanchanaburi area.
