A 30-minute drive north of the city of Kanchanaburi is the Nichigo Golf Resort and Country Club. Designed by Mitsuaki Kobayashi and opened to the public in 1992, the course features 27 holes divided into three sets of nine holes. These are named Lake Course, River Course and Mountain Course. About 2 hours and 30 minutes drive from Hua Hin, the course is considered not only one of the best golf courses in the Kanchanaburi area, but also one of the best in all of Thailand.

The course is near the River Kwai and has a small replica known as the Bridge on the River Kwai. This has nothing to do with Pierre Boulle's novel, but a smaller version of the bridge in Kanchanaburi. Nestled between the river and mountains on the border with Myanmar, Nichigo Golf Resort and Country Club offers some of the region's beauty.



Most of the holes on the three and nine hole course are filled with trees, some very tall, and small lakes dotted around also play a role. The River Course is considered the best of the three, and that's where the bridge is. There are actually two bridges over the river, the other being a rope bridge that connects the third par 3 tee to the green below.

As the name suggests, Little Lake plays a role on the Lake Course, the third par 4 and fourth par 3. Otherwise, water doesn't play a major role on the lake course, but develops more into a park course with a lot of woods.

The Mountain Course is the steepest of the three courses at Nichigo Golf Resort and Country Club. The sloping topography of the Mountain Course provides the best views, while the limestone hills make for a spectacular sight.



All in all, these three golf courses have their own characteristics, and with their bunker greens, many golfers find Nichigo Golf Resort and Country Club to be a good test of their skills. However, the facilities outside the square are not as good, and many people tend to choose to live closer to the square, which is more modern and luxurious.
