Hua Hin golf courses

Royal Hua Hin Golf Course

With a remarkable history dating back to the first half of the 20th century, the Royal Hua Hin Course is the oldest golf course in Thailand. It's not in great condition, but still very playable.

Wandering among rocky outcrops, the course has been designed to blend in with the natural terrain, reminiscent of many old English courses.

Due to its rich history, unlike many newer courses, the course is lined with mature trees, giving it great character. The fairways are often hard and often covered with weeds and bare patches, but this will give you plenty of run on the ball. The greens are slow but true and hard to see at times. There are some great views from some of the higher tees, and a Thai temple provides the backdrop for the par 14 par 3 course.

As you approach the club, you will pass the very ornate train station, which is often used by members of the royal family when they visit the Summer Palace in Hua Hin.

The best hole is probably the last on the front nine, a par 4 that takes you downhill to the clubhouse. You have to drive through a wasteland while dodging two large bushes that block your way. If you can avoid these obstacles, you can get to the green with relative ease.

If you can ignore the wear and tear, it's very playable and certainly worth checking out to soak up some of the history of this great old lady.
