Royal Ratchaburi Golf Club is located off Highway 4, heading south towards Hua Hin and Cha-am. Designed by Artanan Yomchinda and opened in 1988, Royal Ratchaburi is considered one of the most spectacular golf courses in the Khachanaburi area, perhaps that's why it is considered one of the most popular among locals . Royal Ratchaburi is an 18-hole par-72 golf course with a total length of 6,785 yards. It is about an hour's drive from Kachanaburi town and a 90-minute dive from Hua Hin.

The hilly terrain of Royal Ratchaburi is made up for by rolling hills and sloping greens. With sweeping views of the Burmese mountains, these elements combine to make Royal Ratchaburi a feast for the eyes.





Due to the remote location of the course, the greens are kept in good condition throughout the year. The fairways are rugged and the course offers a challenge for players of all skill levels. The front nine offers the best chance for a low score because the fairways tend to be wider than the back nine. The par 3 holes are short, but don't be fooled into thinking that makes them easy birdie targets. There are deep canyons between the tees and greens, which can be a bit nerve-wracking and lead to unpredictable shots.

Trees, bunkers and water play a big role in a game at Royal Ratchaburi Golf Club, but the real test is the greens. Slopes and caves require 100% attention when reading and executing putts, otherwise drop shots become a problem.

Off-course facilities at the Royal Ratchaburi Golf Club include a clubhouse, restaurant and practice facility with driving range, chipping and putting greens. The facilities are rudimentary at best but have everything you need for a round of golf. However, as locals will tell you, people don't come to this course for the facilities, but for the quality of the golf course itself and the surrounding landscape.





But a word of warning, watch out for the monkeys. Wild monkeys roam around many holes on this course, including the first. So if the ball is not where you expect it to be, there may be a specific reason.

All that said, Royal Ratchaburi Golf Club is considered a hidden gem by those who have played there and is definitely a course worth playing.
