Samui Island golf courses

Santiburi Samui Golf Club

Santiburi Samui Golf Club is the only 18-hole golf course on Koh Samui, meandering through the jungle and mountains above the beautiful beach. It's a very tough course - especially the back nine, and you need to play your best and have a little bit of luck to get a good result. This is one of the best golf courses in Thailand on our list.

The first 18-hole golf course built on idyllic Koh Samui, Santiburi Samui Country Club remains the only open championship golf course on the lush tropical island. Nestled among the coconut palm-covered hills and waterfalls of northern Koh Samui, this fantastic golf course offers panoramic views of the nearby white-sand beaches and coral reef fringed islands. It's picturesque and challenging.

Undulating and narrow fairways follow the natural contours of hills and valleys, so you'll encounter many elevation changes that emphasize accuracy over distance - and on many holes, the bank can cause your ball to roll more than it carries Far. A good example is the 17th hole, which is a par 5 hole, and as it goes all the way down, you can enter in two; although it can be difficult to choose the right racket for your shot, whether it's the second Or third hit.

If you can avoid the water hazards on 13 of the holes, you'll find the manicured greens in excellent condition thanks to the very fast Tifeagle grass. Many of the greens are multi-tiered, many of which are reminiscent of Augusta National (and equally difficult to tame), so it might be a good idea to ask your caddy for advice. The huge difference in elevation between the 17th tee and the 18th green makes for some spectacular shots, and you'll need the requisite golf cart to get over the slopes.

After changing in the comfortable changing rooms, it's worth staying a little longer to dine in the restaurant. Not because the food is particularly good (but very good), but because the terrace has one of the most spectacular views in Thailand.
