Sea Pines Golf Course
Sea Pines Golf Course is the newest addition to the Hua Hin golf courses and the only one with holes right next to the beach. We recommend this course, it is in excellent condition and the facilities are excellent.
The Sea Pines Golf Course is ideally located almost on the beachfront, and the last hole is particularly memorable because it is on the beachfront. The course is divided into two parts with holes on the opposite side of the train tracks and offers a variety of challenges that are great fun for both low and high handicaps.
The prevailing wind has a huge impact on how the course is played and when it blows it can become very difficult. Due to the proximity to the beach, there is little change in elevation and the course is fairly flat. To compensate for this, the designers added a lot of water hazards, and only two out of every nine holes were free of water.
The opening two holes are quite straightforward but things get interesting as you stand on the third tee box which is a par-5 with a carry over water off the tee and a water hazard all along the left side. Bunkers lie in wait for your second and then it’s a daunting carry over water to the green. The 4th is another dog-leg and if you get greedy and try to cut off too much then you can end up in the trees with no hope of reaching the green. The 7th is another tricky dog-leg with a huge bunker protecting the direct route to the fairway and if you get out of position with your second then you can get blocked out by a larger tree beside the green. The 9th is a great hole shaped like a banana and big hitters can go straight over the water but if you choose to play safe it’s difficult to avoid the bunker at the far side of the fairway. The approach is over more water to a sharply sloping green and if you over club then you will pace a fast downhill putt.
Most of the memorable holes are on the back nine of the Sea Pines Golf Course, the par 5 12th hole is a difficult dogleg hole with water on one side and cleverly placed fairway bunkers waiting for unpredictable openings. ball. If you can't get a good position off the tee, you're going to have to hang up.
The three signature holes are the last three holes on the course, with the last stretch of holes closer to the beach starting at the dogleg par 5 16. You must tee off to the left of the fairway to avoid the water on the right. The next shot is critical as scoring is very difficult and good positioning is essential if you plan to hit sloped greens over water and bunkers. The 17th hole is a very nice and seemingly innocuous par 3 but you have to play over water to a green that is well protected by bunkers and if there is a wind it might be like a lottery to choose clubs Same.
The final hole is a very challenging par 4 with a long fairway, but shorter hitters may choose to give up and hit the green with a longer club.
The restaurant has a terrace overlooking the sea and is a great place to relax and chat over a beer or two. The course is run by the Thai military, so the service is not as good as some other courses in the area.
