Siam Country Club Old Course in Pattaya, Thailand's premier golf course, was completely redesigned in 2007 by Schmidt & Curley Design. This is a private members golf club so weekend tee times are very important.



The Siam Country Club Old Course, which has hosted many international championships, has been redesigned and is now the permanent home of the LPGA Honda Classic. The redesign hasn't changed the course significantly, but the grass has been completely replanted and a couple of bunkers have been added to give it a more modern look. It benefits greatly from the many mature trees that line the fairways.



Typical of the course is the legendary 15th hole, a par 4 with a creek running through the fairway and a large tree that can easily hinder unpredictable tee shots. You can play short shots near the water, but then have long approaches to the well protected greens and, like most of the greens on this course, are very fast. There is no rest in the last three holes, so pay tribute to the big Buddha guarding the green of the 9th hole, and hope he can bring you good luck.

The course features a traditional layout with many holes bordering scenic lakes and strategically placed ponds. Long, accurate shots are essential if you want to successfully navigate tight fairways. You'll also need to stay away from large trees, which are either completely in your way or require a low hit rate to get back into the game. The greens are so nice and fast, you'll need the full help of your caddy to avoid the dreaded three-putt.



The final four holes of this course are among the best in Thailand and have many dramatic endings, so be careful they don't ruin your map.
