Sir James Country Club
Sir James Resort & Country Club in Khao Yai, formerly known as Forest Hills, is actually closer to Bangkok than many other golf clubs in Khao Yai, so it's possible to play on the way to the national park or back. This is a well designed and challenging park course situated in the foothills of the park with its many streams, lakes and waterfalls which, combined with native flowering plants, make it a very attractive golf course.

Nearly every hole on the course is surrounded by the wooded hills typical of the region, and where mountain views are lacking, the designers have filled the gaps with colorful flower beds, native shrubs and natural-looking water hazards. You have to stay on the fairway because if you go off course you end up in thick rough, vegetation or worse and you have no choice but to play sideways.
The elevation changes create some very attractive and inviting holes. The 3rd lane is a good example, when you drive downhill to a sloping fairway, the fairway tends to push your ball downhill into a water hazard. If you can get over the high ground and roll, you can attack the green from a distance and get an eagle chance. The par 3 hole 254 is also a signature hole, played from an elevated tee to a green surrounded by water. The difficult par 4 finish hole also starts from the elevated tee and takes a water approach to the elevated green in front of the clubhouse.

Overall, it's not an overly difficult course, but the designers have included enough bunkers, water hazards and doglegs, along with elevation changes and uneven lay, to test most golf balls hand. No green is as easy to see, so finding the sweet spot on the fairway to be firm and well positioned is essential if you want to hit the ball well.
