St Andrews 2000 doesn't exactly emulate its namesake golf course, but this Desmond Muirhead design is a par-74 monster that encompasses two massive par-6s 7,700 yards from the back tee. This is not for hackers!



This course requires strength and accuracy to do well, and even low handicap players will find it challenging with strategically placed water hazards, numerous fairway bunkers, elevated tees and split-level greens and fairways.

Some would say the course is a bit 'gimmicky', especially the two 800 yard par 6 holes, but it is a remarkable course with some very special touches to its design. Hole 15 is a good example as you play from 3 tiers of tees with good views all around, follow an unusual 2 tier fairway and watch out for the fringe on 18, if you hit it unfortunately, it May launch the ball in any direction.



You'll probably need all the clubs in your bag, even the long irons you hate, because you'll need to be very accurate against many hazards. Even if you don't get your hopes up, this course will leave a lasting impression and plenty of anecdotes to share with your friends.

The course is very popular so it can be crowded on weekends and bank holidays so expect some delays.
