Bangkok golf courses

Subhapruek Golf Club

Subhapruek Golf Club is strategically located between central Bangkok and Suvarnabhumi Airport. This makes it the perfect golf course for a last-minute round before arriving in Bangkok or leaving the country.

That said, Subhapruek should be added to any golf itinerary in Bangkok or Thailand, regardless of your entry and exit points. For those of you who have played golf in Asia or traveled to other parts of the world, Pete Dye's name will be familiar to you.

Pete Dye was an American golf course designer who has put his name to many golf courses around the world, including his home country, the United States and Asia.

Subhapruek is an 18-hole golf course just 50 minutes from central Bangkok, 6,837 yards from the back tee. The course originally opened in 1993 as Bangna Country Club, but was later renamed Subhapruek.

This golf course is mostly flat, but Dye still manages to create some challenging and interesting holes. The landing pads are often roomy, and you can't help but pull the driver out of many of them. While this can be fun, if you're here to hit low scores, you should pay attention to where the ball is after every shot.

In addition to carved bunkers, bushes and palm-lined fairways, there are significant water hazards around the 18 holes. So when you're eager to pull your driver out every time you're on par 4s and 5s, you might want to consider using a shorter, more accurate club to keep an eye out for water and bunkers.

In fact, good positioning is the key to hitting low shots at Subhapruek, and if you can keep yourself in the sweet spot to hit the green, you'll enjoy a successful round of golf. If you tend to hook or chip your driver, you're going to have a lot of problems, but if you can hit a round of golf off the tee with control, you can get really good at Subhapruek score.

The last hole in each set of nine holes is considered by those who play regularly to be the best hole on the course. The 8th hole features a long dogleg that wraps around a lake, while the 9th has water running the entire length of the right side of the hole. The 18th hole will remind you of the 18th hole at TPC Sawgrass, a fitting end to a great game of golf.

In addition to the scenic golf course, Subhapruek Golf Club has a driving range with floating island targets and a large clubhouse with a restaurant serving Thai and other Asian dishes.

Subhapruek is a great addition to any golf itinerary in Bangkok or Thailand. The course is beautifully laid out and provides a great test of golf strategy. A nice little addition at the end is the short par 3 19th hole.
