The Pine Golf and Lodge

Pine Lodge and Golf is a 27-room boutique golf resort that blends seamlessly with the surrounding landscape to create an ambience unique to the region. Golfers will be delighted to see the abundance of native wildlife when you play at the Pine Lodge Course, from which there are some beautiful views of the surrounding countryside.

It opened in 2005 and quickly gained a reputation for being affordable compared to other golf courses in the area. The low cost of green fees attracts people, especially travelers, who don't mind traveling further afield to get the cheapest green fees.

Caddy services are offered at very competitive rates and with several buggy and caddie deals to choose from, it's worth paying a little extra for the great local knowledge the caddies have.

Designed by course architect V-Entertain, the course offers spacious fairways and greens surrounded by large bunkers and water hazards.

For the most part, water hazards are decorative rather than strategically placed and should bother the golfer very little, but don't let the simplicity of the game fool you. The challenge is great when obstacles rear their ugly heads.

One of these challenges comes in the third challenge. The doglegged par 4 fairway around Great Lakes requires straight shots and a good second shot to avoid trouble.

Like many courses in Thailand, the par 3 needs to inherit what looks like Nor.

At 6,917 yards, it's not as long as many Thai golf courses, allowing visiting golfers a respite from the championship courses here. The par 72 offers a good mix of long and short holes at all par ratings.

As with most Thai courses, there are different tee platforms offering varying distances and challenges depending on skill level.

The last two holes are probably the most challenging of the set, requiring hard water diversion to find the putting surface on the 17th hole, while the strategy for the final hole is dictated by water the entire length of the hole.

Par - Par is no easy task here.

The clubhouse offers a variety of dining options, but is not as grand or huge as many Thai clubhouses. As simple as it may be, with a slightly dated interior, golfers will find everything they need after a round here.

As the course is one of the less crowded courses in the Bangkok area, round times are generally good, which is an added bonus for many golfers who are used to playing fast.

For many golfers, Pie Lodge won't be high on the list, but the added value and serene golf course will attract many visiting golfers.

Hurry up and check out this course, you won't be disappointed.
