Chiang Rai's Waterford Valley Golf Club and Resort isn't quite like its more famous neighbour, it's a great golf course to play, and thanks to the many elevation changes, it offers great views of the surrounding countryside.





After a scenic 40-minute drive, you'll arrive at the scenic mountainside, spectacularly carved out of the slope. It's not a particularly difficult course with generous fairways, but the many elevation changes and common water hazards add to the challenge. To complicate the procedure, the greens are very small and require approach shots, and you will inevitably miss some, so your short game has to be good.

Some of the trickier holes include the par 4 9th where there is water waiting for you off the tee and if you can handle it you will be faced with a way through a water filled canyon onto a steeply falling green which we highly recommend You do it this way, staying under the hole to avoid a three-putt.




The next hole is an epic par 5 with a very narrow fairway with a bunker on one side and out of bounds on the other. The sloping fairways mean that straight and accurate tee shots often end up downhill and offer opportunities for two steps onto the green.
